9mm Pistol - Springfield Armory XD

Took my wife out to the range yesterday.

She wants a 9mm pistol. So we rented a couple that fit her hands, etc. and fired a couple of boxes through them.

We both liked the Springfield Armory XD.

Any input from ya'll about these firearms, either positive or negative is appreciated. FWIW: They had the XDM model in stock as well, but not as a rental option. So we only fired the XD.

I LOVE my XD45. I also like the fit and feel of the XDM9, but haven't fired one.

I'm not a big 9mm fan, but I'm considering buying a pistol in 9mm to practice and have around. Who knows...it could get the point that the ONLY ammo you can find is 9mm???

Anyway, I'm considering either a Springfield XDM9 or a Ruger SR9.

Has anyone tried the Ruger?

The XD is a fine pistol that will serve you well if you decide on buying it.

I was going to buy the XDM but went with the SR9 and think it is a very nice pistol (especially for the price). Very smooth, tough, quick shooting, nice ergonomics, well constructed, etc. I'm very happy with it.

I have an XD9 Tactical.

Never jams (on WWB).

I can take out a small milk jug at 100 yds with it. That's good enough for me.

I highly recommend this pistol.

I have a couple xd 9mm tacticals. Only problem I've ever had with them was a bad batch of S&B ammo. I had about 20 failures to extract out of 500 rounds. I'm currently in the market for a subcompact w/ night sights for concealed carry.

One way to get a wide review of any firearm from actual owners is to GOOGLE the make and model of the one you are interested in, and follow the links to various discussion boards.

I too am interested in the XD in 9mm for my kid brother. He is a neophyte when it comes to guns and unfortunately is scared of the Glock trigger. I have dry-fired a few XDs and I think he might be able to shoot it better. Also looking at a Beretta 92FS/M9...

Love mine. Just remember, they are "combat" as opposed to "target" pistols. They are made to put a bullet COM of a mansized target under the worst physical, physiological and psychological conditions everytime the trigger is pulled rather than chew out the red circle of a paper target at a range.

If you can accept that, you'll love them too!

They look interesting....but made in Croatia?.....will you be able to get it serviced long term? I like all guns.....got a crap load....

In my mind why deviate from the Glock if you want a plastic framed fighting pistol? Glocks are probably the #1 fighting pistol in the world. Parts forever.
